J'ai de très bons contacts avec Duncan Hammilton le chanteur du groupe Katy Lied, voici un super cadeau qu'il m'a offert, j'étais trop heureux quand j'ai ouvert la boîte aux lettres ce matin, il s'agit d'un CD limité qui n'est donc pas commercialisé et leur album lui sortira le 1er Septembre. En plus trop trop heureux il m'a dédicacé le CD, ya trois titres Late Arrival, Crash And Burn et When Tommorow Comes
Olivier: I wanted to know in what year was started your band? and in what context ?
Duncan : Katy Lied began about two years ago. I was in the studio in Liverpool with producer/multi-instrumentalist Nigel Stonier who was working on a solo album project and it inspired me to start writing some new songs. I soon decided that the new songs should be part of a band project rather than a solo album, so I began to recruit the others and Katy Lied was born.
Olivier: Are all the band members English?
Duncan : Yes we are all from the UK.
Olivier : I read that an ex member of Elton Johns band made an appearance on your album, is it true?
Duncan : Yes, that is true. Cindy Bullens flew into the UK in October 2007 to sing background vocals on 'Crash and Burn' which is on the 'Late Arrival' album. Cindy was a singer in Elton Johns band back in the 1970's. She sang on the number 1 hit single 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' by Elton John and Kiki Dee, as well as the 'Blue Moves' album. You should check out her work!
Olivier : Your band shares the same name as the fourth album fourth album by Steely Dan, no? What does the name mean?
Duncan : Ha! A lot of people ask about what the name means! They ask who's Katy? What did she lie about? Are you Steely Dan fans? etc!! Personally I like to keep it as a mystery! If people want to think we're named after that Steely Dan album that's ok, or if they think the name means something else that's ok too!!
Olivier : Where from come your inspirations in your songs? and about what do you speak in your songs? (your lyrics)
Duncan : Just from everyday things that go on around me. Many of the Katy Lied songs are open to interpretation by the listener. They have different meanings to different people. I like that in a song. I like songs that tell a story, but it's a different story to different listeners . . . if that makes sense.
Olivier : What plans do you have for the future of Katy Lied?
Duncan : Well there are a lot of things happening at the moment. We have a downloadable single being released on iTunes on August 25th. It's the title track from the album 'Late Arrival'. The download includes an exclusive acoustic version of one of our songs. Following that the album is officially released on September 1st. We'll be doing some unplugged radio sessions to promote the album.
Towards the end of the year we'll be doing some gigs around the UK. We're looking forward to getting out there and gigging the album. We will be working on a second Katy Lied album fairly soon as well.

Olivier : J'ai voulu savoir en quelle année a commencée votre groupe ? et dans quel contexte ?
Duncan : Katy Lied a commencé il y a environ deux ans. Olivier : Votre groupe partage le même nom d'album que celui de Steely Dan, non ? Que signifie ce nom ?
Duncan : Ha ! Beaucoup de personnes s'enquièrent de ce que signifie le nom ! Ils demandent qui est Katy ? De quoi ment-elle ? Êtes-vous des fans de Steely Dan ? etc. ! ! Personnellement j'aime le garder comme mystère ! Si les gens veulent penser qu'on la appelé comme cet album de Steely Dan ok, ou s'ils pensent autre chose, c'est bon aussi
Olivier : D'où viennent vos inspirations dans vos chansons ? et de quoi parlez-vous dans vos chansons?
Duncan : Juste des choses de la vie quotidienne qui tournent autour de moi. Beaucoup de chansons de Katy Lied prennent leur sens avec ceux qui l'écoutent. Ils ont différentes significations suivant les personnes. J'aime ça dans une chanson. J'aime les chansons qui racontent une histoire, mais l'histoire prend son sens aussi avec ceux qui écoutent les chansons
Olivier : Qu'est-ce que vous envisagez pour l'avenir de votre groupe ?
Duncan : Il y a beaucoup de choses a l'heure actuelle. Nous avons un titre téléchargeable sur iTunes le 25 août. C'est une chanson de l'album Late Arrival. Le téléchargement inclut une version acoustique exclusive d'une de nos chansons. Le 1er Septembre sortira notre album !!. Nous ferons quelques sessions à la radio pour promouvoir l'album. Vers la fin de l'année nous ferons pas mal de concerts au Royaume-Uni. Nous attendons avec impatiente ces lives et la sortie de l'album. Nous travaillerons à un deuxième album très bientôt.
